THE 22nd ART EXHIBITION
I am thrilled and honored to be the writer of this edition of THE ART CORNER.
These ladies work so hard always. These 3 ladies, ROSE ENDERUD,
JENNY SJ,
VENERINA CONTI, really
out do themselves presenting this forum to us every 3 weeks.
I have the extreme privilege and honor to bring to the art of Susanna Jade Angola.
Susanna has been a member of Adlandpro since May 2007, and she is a very nice
person. I just know you are going to love her artwork. Please invite Susanna to
be your friend is she is not already.
As a child she was always drawing, coloring and painting. When she married a
young Italian artist he taught her very well. She has fond memories of that time
saying, "We lived in Italy and painted our way through walls, furniture, cars,
floors, rocks and any other surface we could find”.
Susanna has spent the last 25 years in California and New Mexico and she
continues to explore various surfaces to color. I love big cats so the tiger
picture was a personal favorite of mine. She included this note in her bio;
Please visit www.Susanetta.com/collection.html for a special offer plus a
free high-resolution download of the Tiger. Print it, frame it, keep it, or give
it away.”

I hope you will enjoy this Art Exhibition as much as I did.

We would like to continue to send our prayers out to MS LISA WESTBERRY and her
family. Elizabeth is finished with radiation now, but she is still not eating

medicine needed to kill this infection and the doctors can find out what is
causing it.
We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Heidi Stern

JANUARY HOLIDAYS & CELEBRATIONS
We have a very diverse Community here at AdlandPro,
and I thought it would be nice to have a section on Holidays being celebrated around
the world. I will list and explain the Holidays that will be celebrated during the
month, along with the date the Holiday is celebrated. This should be lots of
fun, and a great learning experience for everyone.
New Year's Day - January 1st
New Year's Eve is when all the fun and festivities are. We see out the old year
and ring in the new. While it is often thought of as a time to drink and be merry,
many people take it as an opportunity to eat and be merry. New Years' Day on the
other hand, is a time to relax and enjoy the start of a bright and promising
New Year....a new beginning. It is a time to be with family.
Feast Of The Epiphany - January 6th
Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar were the three kings(also known as the Three Wise Men)
who saw the star over Bethlem when Christ was born. They followed it to find the
Christ child on January 6th. They brought the Christ child gold, frankincense
and myrrh.
Martin Luther King Day - January 21st (Observed)
Born on January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. grew to become one of the greatest
Social Activists the world has ever known. At 35, he became the youngest person
to win the Nobel Peace prize. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968 while making
a speech from the balcony of his hotel room in Memphis, Tennessee.
His Birthday became a National Holiday by an act of Congress in 1983. Many
consider it a day to serve your community.
Australia Day - January 26th
Australia Day is a national holiday in Australia celebrating national pride and
culture, and an opportunity to recognize and enjoy accomplishments. Many Australians
use this day to explore and learn more about their national identity and culture.
Pongal - Month of January
In parts of India, January is the season for the rice harvest. Pongal is a
three-day-long harvest festival celebrating the new crop. Newly harvested rice is
cooked in a special ceremony and fed to the local cows and bullocks, which are
painted for the festival.
Muslim New Year - January 10th
The Islamic New Year is a cultural event which some Muslims partake on the first
day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar. Many Muslims use the day
to remember the significance of this month, and the Hijra, or emigration, Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) made to the city now known as Medina. Recently, in many areas of Muslim
population, people have begun exchanging cards and gifts on this day.

THE BEST FORUM AWARD WINNERS
The Newsletter has added a new feature to our Newsletter. We are
listing all of the winners of the The Best Forum Award here. This forum
was created by Bogdan Fiedur to give recognition to some of the best forums
created in the Community. Each month a new forum is judged and voted upon by
a panel of judges, and the winner gets $200!
That is really awesome, and very generous of Bogdan to do! So get going on
writing some truly great forums and you may be one of the next lucky winners!
WINNER OF THE SEPTEMBER 2007 AWARD
The forum "Woman of Courage"
by Luella May and John Elliott won the award in Spetember.
The forum is dedicated to all women who have gone the extra mile to make a
difference in the world. The featured persons are someone famous, someone who has
made a difference in their world, but is not well known or even one of our very
own Adlandpro members. She has even featured a family member who has touched many
lives.
Luella and John give insight into the lives and influencers of these people
who have taken chances to change the world around them. The threads inspire, give
us courage, show us how to overcome adversity, and illustrate that even a small
amount of ability can make a difference if we act to change the world.
The forum received high rating in all the categories;
** visuals because there is a special banner that denotes "Women of Courage"
** originality of subject as there is no other forum like it here in Adlandpro
**Participation by the owners in that they answer each and every post.
$200 was presented to the owners of the forum for presenting this to us weekly
with a professional, inspiring forum that we all love to read and post our comments.
After 45 entries, Luella took time off to take care of health issues, and has
now returned.

********* THE POETRY CORNER *********
In this issue of the Newsletter we are featuring another one of AdlandPro's poets,
MS. BABETTE GUMAHAD.
Babette is an awesome poet.
Q. How long have you been writing poetry, Babette?
A. I used to write as a child, but stopped when I went through teen-age "rebellion". Then I
started writing again in my mid-late 20's, and then I stopped completely again.
I recently started writing again, all the poems posted in my forum I wrote in July 2007.
What motivates your writings?
Well, Nov. 05 I began experiencing neurological symptoms. Jan. 06, I was diagnosed
with having a brain lesion, then Feb. with a serious neurological illness. Procedures
were again repeated in latter part of April 06 to re-confirm. Went through the
whole roller coaster ride of emotions, denial, etc. I had to take medical leave
from work Feb 5, 2006 and returned April 9, 2006. I found out that day that I
had been demoted from being Executive Director to Sr. Director of Operations.
It took a lot of courage to continue with the company. May 21, 2006, 911 was
called...then I knew I was going to be placed on short-term disability and now
long-term disability through my employer. My illness is my motivation. I find it
as a release of internal and external emotional pain and anger
Does the writing just flow, or is it something you have to work at?
For some reason words suddenly appear in my vision. Once I start writing, all
words used just fluidly flow in my vision, then onto the paper. I can describe
it as if someone is dictating these words to me. It takes about 5-10 mins to
finish a poem. This is considered as God's blessing, bringing back the creativity
once hidden and lost.
'ANSWERS'
By Babette Gumahad
Punishing one's worth, with thoughts of only you
Coming to conclusion, addiction, is this true?
The path chosen, every moment, everyday
Pure obsession comes to mind for it is the only way
Overcoming ill feelings buried deep within the heart
Why is it, questions of emotions, questions of desire?
Trusting fate as one can only hope,
The addiction of obsession will soon fade away
Answers draw closer, fruition as they say
Believe within your soul, is the only way
Must unleash all feelings, must choose a different path.
Release the angst unbind the emotions,
For this will set you free at last
Parting from you is difficult to do
Sorrows within my being,
Forever lingering within the heart,
So please go, let it be just so.
Copyright ©2007 Babette Gumahad
I want to thank Babette for this great poem, and for letting us know a little bit
more about herself. We would like to wish Babette much more continued success
with writing her poetry, and with whatever else life has to offer her.
Good Luck to you!

THE 22nd ART EXHIBITION
I am thrilled and honored to be the writer of this edition of THE ART CORNER.
These ladies work so hard always. These 3 ladies, ROSE ENDERUD,
JENNY SJ,
VENERINA CONTI, really
out do themselves presenting this forum to us every 3 weeks.
I have the pleasure and high honor of bringing you the art of Cindy Beck. She
is an accomplished equine artist, and also likes to do other animals. Her horses
are so lifelike that you can almost see them running and here their thundering
hoofs pounding the ground. She credits all her time working with the horse closely
to her ability to portray the equine form so well. All that time grooming,
feeding, riding, and watching gave her an intimate understanding of the form, the
movement and the grace these majestic animals have.
Alan is an amazing artist, he has mastered the skill of knife paintings,
and is able to paint and complete the entire picture with the use of painting knives,
except his signature. You see those little birds flying in his beautiful
landscapes and seascapes are by sharp tiny brushes. With the special skill of
knife painting, Alan has established his very own characteristic impressionism.
His art lovers can easily identify his paintings before even looking at
his signature.
My personal favorite is the leopard. I have been fortunate to be up close and
personal with one of these magnificent creatures and Cindy has captured a side of
this animal that we don't normally get to experience.
She is self taught except for art in high school. She mostly works in acrylics
and pastels. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing much more of this fine
artist's work. Go enjoy the magical stories she weaves with her art.

It has been an extreme pleasure for me to bring you this addition of The Art
Corner
