E-Books are wonderful and worthwhile for marketing and business. The time invested in creating an e-book can be challenging and rewarding. Creating an e-book isn't as complex as it seems. You can create your own unique format. As long as you complete the e-book is what matters.
Take experiences or expertise, add links throughout and apply any type of media (images, podcasts, videos), benefits, testimonies, case-studies, proof, and references then create them into an e-book. Give them away or sell them can be extremely viral marketing tool and boost your business sale percentages.
With an e-book out on the market, you can receive new or massive traffic, build a huge list, get more sign-ups, potential or future sales, less time advertising and set-up your reputation (If you have more than one e-book flooding the market with a niche topic high in demand and marketed everywhere). There are many ways to offer a free e-book with various marketing methods. There are many ways to offer an e-book for sale as well.
One way is offering an e-book for free is on your website or blog. Apply a form which states, "Receive our brand new e-book. Subscribe Now!" or "Subscribe now and receive our free e-book gift!" etc...
A second way is network marketing. You can offer your free gift e-book when you are creating a new contact as a thank you gift. You can also add this free e-book gift on your profile or signature file.
Third, you can advertise in a forum or classified ad utilizing your signature file or free ad. Since your ebook is free, it can be highly viral. People love anything free.
Fourth, you can do a joint venture with others offering your free e-book as part of your jv. Highly viral because the advertising is responsibility of all partners and their affiliates.
Finally, You can offer your e-book in a report, guide, newsletter, a splash page, download page, oto page, thank gift after a product sale, included in a product sale as a bonus, gift after person finishes a short survey, sign-up page incentive bonus to join, contest, SEO and email marketing. The list goes on...
One I haven't seen or heard is on a blog. When a person comments, they usually sumit with an email address. Send them a thank you for comment email automatically with a download link to the free gift ebook for their comment. Good deeds reap rewards can be an invaluable tool.
Another I haven't seen or heard is on a unsubscribe page. When a person decides to unsubscribe, add a link on that page, "Are you sure you want to unsubscribe?" "One last chance free gift e-book to reconsider your subscribtion." Click here to receive your free gift e-book and remain a subscriber." Incentives can be a big asset tool.
Paid e-book marketing can be something different (niche) that no else offers. Some type of niche in demand that catches the viewers eyes in the subject line. Brainstorming ideas and research including completion of an e-book for sale can be worthwhile.
Example In The E-book for Sale: (Created hypothetical Case Study)
One guy has a subject line that gets over 10,000 hits in a classifieds forum post offering his e-book for a very low cost amount. Bam! He is selling his e-book galore and creates himself an income way more than he anticipates. He created an affiliate program for those who purchases can also reap the rewards. Thus creating even more income for the one guy. His advertising time is less spent. He's not only earned income, he also built a huge list of potential and future sales customers.
It wasn't how good the e-book was. The lesson is that it was a "Completed" e-book and selling insanely. The main part of an e-book for sale should be marketing efforts of the "Subject line." That is what's going to sell.
Overall, info products are beneficial and is something to consider in part of anyones marketing and business. For free or for sale, e-books are worthwhile.
