Coming into Fall soon and Halloween not far away. Get ready to say Trick or Treat. My older kid loves all about Halloween. We're looking around for the perfect costume to show off in the annual school Halloween parade, Halloween carnival and Trick or Treating. The costumes my girls wore last year was Sleeping Beauty and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
This year Halloween falls on a Friday. The kids will be worn out by the time they return from school and trick or treat. Thank goodness that this is a start of a weekend. The kids will be walking (1 mile) around the park, then off to the big Halloween event and eventually trick or treating.
Last year, we parents had a very busy week in helping out at the Halloween carnival and classroom party. Here's a photo of one of the panels for a haunted house created by us parents and pumpkins created by me. We used a long black plastic tarp for the roof and plastic pcv valves for the frame structure. We connected 12 panels together including two arched panels for the entrance. We had green jello in a bowl for the kids to touch, some kids to jump out and say boo and someone to hand out a prize when the kids exited. It was very windy that the tarp lifted off and a few frames couldn't handle it and so they were removed. It was still fun for the kids to walk through and for us to see them screaming and laughing.
Each class creates a booth area for the big event. I think I'll be more of a spectator this year with my camera in hand.

My Classic Dill Dip Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup mayo 1 cup sour cream 2 tbsp. dill dried herb 1 dash of salt to taste 1 dash pepper to taste 1/8 cup milk
In a medium bowl, mix and whisk all of the ingredients together until smooth. Refrigerate and chill for 10-15 minutes. Serve with potato chips. Serves: Enough for 1 large bag of plain potato chips
Want alot more? Just double the ingredients. Want less? Just cut this recipe in half.
Some other ways to use this dip is with quesadillas, salmon cakes, hot chicken wings, fresh cut-up veggies, etc... You can even incorporate it with salads, like potato or maccaroni. Do you ever get tired of just eating ranch dressing? Try it out.
Food safety tip: Wrap up the leftovers and refrigerate promptly. Don't leave out food containing mayonaise for long periods of time. It can spoil.
Review of Camp Rock - Hannah Montana Pre-Order DVD By: GetSmart
During the summer we viewed the special of Camp Rock. My kids and I really enjoyed it. It's fun to have shows for kids that the whole family can hangout together. The singing was nice, but the story line was a typical teen camp movie. Young upper class teens who attend camp and make friends with only those who are alike. One of the girls is a camp workers daughter who pretends to like them in order to fit in. The handsome Joe (Jonas) who is searching for the right girl to sing with him. He takes the affection to this girl (Demi Lovato), but finds out she's not who she says she is. All because of the leader of the snobby rich girl who finds out about the girl. The girl is turned into the camp director and she isn't allowed to participate with others until the talent show, the last day of camp. Watch it to see what happens.
