Options for Marketing and Selling High Quality Audio Books

Selling audio books can be a great way to make an excellent living, both on the internet and in the brick and mortar world.  Anyone who has been following the world of publishing has no doubt realized that audio books are a growing part of the publishing industry, and this trend is likely to only grow in the future.

While selling audio books can be a great way to make a real profit, it is vital to choose the right audio books to sell, and to market them as effectively as possible. 

Let’s start with a look at how to find audio books that can be sold at a profit.  When many people think about audio books they believe that the most cost effective solution is to create their own audio books from scratch. 

Many of these would be audio book creators believe that all it takes is a good microphone, a set of headphones and perhaps a software package or two. 

While it certainly is possible to create your own audio books from scratch, most people who do so create their own audio books only for personal reasons, since it would be far too expensive to create audio books for commercial purposes.  The break even point for commercially producing your own audio books is simply too high to be practical for most people

Another option is to have your own audio books commercially produced by an outside company.  In many ways this is similar to having a record or a CD created and marketed, but this approach shares many of the same drawbacks as creating your own audio books. 

In most cases the break even point will still be very high, and in many cases the cost of this approach can be nearly as high as producing your own audio books with your own computer.

For those who are truly interested in making a real profit by selling audio books, by far the best and most effective way to go is to by prerecorded audio books and resell them from a profit.  There are many places to buy such audio books, and it is important to choose the books that will both sell the best and bring you the highest percentage of profit.

Choosing the right audio books to sell will not always be easy, but the rewards of finding the right mix of audio books and related products are very great.
